Preservation Texas Preservation Month Party at the Kyle Log House

May 16, 2026

In celebration of National Historic Preservation Month, Preservation Texas hosted an exclusive tour and luncheon at the historic Kyle Log House on May 16, 2026.

Over the past year, Preservation Texas has worked closely with the Claiborne Kyle Log House Commission on several preservation initiatives, including coordinating the installation of a new county-funded wood shingle roof and facilitating a ground-penetrating radar study at the site.

More than 120 guests attended the event and were among the first to view updated exhibits inside the log house, highlighting new discoveries from recent research. The program offered visitors a unique opportunity to learn more about Hays County’s oldest surviving house and the ongoing efforts to preserve it for future generations.
